HOW TO ORDER
Overseas Orders

WJVintage is very happy to ship overseas and indeed we do have a fast-growing overseas customer base across virtually all parts of the world.

We always take great care to ensure that goods are well packed for shipping abroad, but we would nevertheless always encourage customers to pay a little extra to fully insure goods against accidental damage. In our experience it is rare for damage to occur, but it can happen, no matter how good the packaging is.

Here are a few important points for overseas customers to note:

VAT

We are often asked by overseas customers if it is possible to deduct the VAT from shipments. As a small business, WJVintage is not currently registered for VAT and so this is not possible. We do not charge VAT and therefore it cannot be deducted.

We are charged VAT on all our purchases and similarly we are not able to claim back the tax we pay.

Please note that as of January 2021 the UK is no longer part of the EU and so the above will also apply for sales to EU member states.

Please note you may also be charged import duties by your own customs authorities. If in doubt please check with your own customs authorities before ordering.

If in the future, as we grow as a business, we do reach the threshold for VAT registration we will of course communicate this to our overseas customers.

Payment

Paypal tends to be the preferred option for most overseas transactions.

Credit cards are also accepted, and details can be given by telephone or if preferred by email (often customers prefer to send a series of emails to split the details for added security).

Bank transfer is also another option but do note your bank may charge a transaction fee which we would expect you to pay. Please contact us for our full bank details if you wish to use this option.

Cheques can only be accepted in £ Sterling and if drawn against a UK bank account.

Shipping

Most smaller parcels under 2 kilos are shipped by Royal Mail ‘tracked and signed’, which is an excellent service and shipments take between 5 and 7 working days to arrive on average for most parts of the world.
For larger, heavier and high value items, courier services are offered. We use a broker which gives us the choice of a number of options/prices which we can discuss prior to booking. Goods can also be insured for the full value (for an additional premium cost) and transit times to most parts of the world are 3 to 4 days using most standard services. There are some new economy services now available which take considerably longer but offer very competitive pricing and we are happy to offer these as an option.

Customs charges

Please note higher valued items in particular may attract import and customs duties which are payable by the customer. If you have any queries about import duties and customs charges we would suggest that you contact your local Department of Trade for guidance before you place an order.
